Hey great job getting on PewDiePie! You crazy flat earth peoples!! That was so cool. 😂😂
Loved the sidetrack of RP in combat. RP does not end at initiative, I like that. You should do a whole video on keeping RP going during combat, that would be awesome!
Sailor Open Fist Monk who fights using Savate (French kickboxing used by sailors).
This video has really pushed me to play a monk. I've been on the edge for a while, but this has changed me! Thanks guys for the awesome content!
So, if you explain high level's monks bodies as being magical…
… does that mean that if a high level monk stepped into an anti-magic field, they'd temporarily lose their levels or even possibly just collapse? >:D
Concept of the envoy warrior from the Netflix OG show Altered Carbon is an awesome idea for reskinning and rp-in a monk.
you guys where on the new pewdiepie video at 7:06 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L0zVJmsz5ww
Could a Monk be combined somehow with the way of the Battlerager? Sounds like together both would be a good fit, maybe a Half Orc Monk way of the battlerager……what do you think OP?
I've been playing a Four Elements monk for about 3 years with my group as we went through Hoard of the Dragon Queen and Rise of Tiamat and I've had a ton of fun. I based his personality after Uncle Iroh and had a blast.
For me, I love the mobility and versatility of the monk, and how you can use that in combat to support your character's personality and motivations.
Another excellent video, guys!
Still think I like Pugilist more. less ki and eastern monk's. More illegal fight clubs and bare fist brutality. But that's probably jest me.
way of the cobalt soul is fucking sick though, to be able to extrapolate information from your victim while whooping their ass is probably one of the best things to do
Nice video, coincidence that my next character is a monk.
He was a master of an entire fighting style, yet he came to realize he couldn't reach his enlightment with it cuz he felt it didnt pushed his body too hard, so he abandoned the entire way he learned from young age to develop his own original style.
P.S: Also talking abour Blanka being a 4 elements monk, i made a "blanka build" using storm herald (sea) barbarian with grappler and tavern brawler. punch the enemy, grapple, rage, keeps dealing lightning damage trough storm herald sea aura, bonus points by being a lizardfolk so bite attacks to deal extra damage.
You have a lot of fans.
A homebrew rule I made for my game is that I allow Monks to use their STR instead of their DEX for all their class features, including unarmored defense. I found that this really opened up the monk class and made it more mechanically viable and fun to play off-type Monks. So instead of being super lithe, they can be musclebound strong-arms like from Jojo's Bizzare Adventure and not be so much worse then DEX monks.
Note to self. Pruitt might look like one of the Rugrats grew up to be a nerd, but he will fuck you up if he gets a boo-boo!
You were in Pewdiepies new video!! The video was about flat earthers and it was hilarious!
Yall made it to Pewdiepie.
You shod cheek out IP man Bruce lee teacher though he not a monk but he can help if need inspiration
Just thinking. You could kinda re-skin the monk as a Witcher. Extremely agile, lives a long time, resistant to disease, can go a long time without food, can supposedly deflect arrows toward people, with 4 elements or magic initiate you can get signs, it's totally doable.
@WEBDM was featured on pewdiepies latest video!!!
I had a monk named Azrael. He was an assimar. His backstory was that he was left at the monastery afflicted with a flesh eating disease. He wasn’t expected to survive long, well he did and became one of the monks. Well turns out the monks studied the Way of Long Death. The monastery took care of the sick and dying all while studying death. So Azrael left to help out others ( also because the angels were getting real naggy) Azrael was a traveling doctor and if you crossed his moral line in the sand, well he knows how to hurt you real bad. All the while dressed in entirely wrapped because of his childhood disease. This character was based off of King Baldwin the 6th.
Still waiting on that Str based monk who instead of being swift to avoid damage has barbarian-like damage resistance through mastery of their body and infinite patience, and instead of attacking repeatedly they focus their ki into … one punch 😛
You guys got on Pewdiepies video
Hey you guys made it into a pewdiepie video about flat earth haha- u guys are the best!
I don't think it's even obligatory that the monetary has to be an Asian style Shaolin style organization, you could have a western style monestery which is regularly best by Northlander Raiders. Trouble being is that the monastic order has a vow to never wield a weapon, this they developed an independent form of martial arts to defend themselves.
Pewdiepie just used an old clip of you guys! I think you’ll appreciate it.
Playing a Kensei monk who used to be a circus acrobat. Learned how to use a whip and bow for tricks and animal training. Also the circus was a front for thievery so he likes to steal things. He's fun!
Why not proper European and middle Eastern monks? Friar Tuck [craftsman] , Nasreddin [scholar], Rasputin [charlatan]…
LOL! Pewdiepie actually put a clip of you guys in his recent video! I thought i had clicked on one of your videos or something because it was so random!
Meant to ask sooner, but does the Gaunt Summoner upon the wall mean that Jim is a Chaos Lord of Tzeentch?
Nice Next Generation reference @ 5:58!!
They definitely don’t have to be eastern style martial ascetics. I played a 4e monk who was just Hillbilly Jim from WWE. I renamed the powers as silly wrestling moves like “atomic elbow” and “I can lick any sumbich in the house.”
My current pet project character is a Kensei Monk with a level in Hexblade. Going for a "Muramasa demon blade" kinda thing. The hex and curse together mean the character is actually really good at focusing down big targets.
I have always had trouble with monks but the one time I had a player insist on playing one, i really enjoyed it.
The character was a half-orc foundling, left on the door step of a monastery. Taken in by the monks, he was forbidden to learn their art but the kind master saw potential in the young half-orc and made sure that his daily chores either emulated the training of the order or positioned him near enough to lessons that he could benefit from them himself. One night he was tricked into taking the final test for the order in full view of several of the order's masters. It was undeniable that this half-breed orphan was not only fit to be part of the order but had excelled in adversity and humility.
I had a very strong monk (think 18 strength) who's weapon was a very long, thick, and very heavy chain that was also wrapped around him like a metaphorical prison. He would crush his enemies with a giant swing.
Yeah Star Trek reference!
