It's not like modern voice recognition works with Scottish accents anyway.
IT Crowd anyone?
Talking to Cortana on Win10 sometimes
What you say when windows locks up in the middle of a task…
I love Scotty lol…Hello Computer and Nothing magnificent sir, I know this ship like the back of me own hand DOINGThud
This is me trying to make my Galaxy S4 understand "Play/Pause" when I listen to music.
i use this line all the time.
I was doing this today waiting for my profile to load. But it's not funny anymore. After all, my handheld computer with an array of sensors and access to the global communications network already responds to 'OK Jarvis'…
What's wrong with colouring books? 🙂
Very well said I wonder who are the dorks who are down voting your posts
I love it when he says "Keyboard…..How Quaint!! Then he goes to town at what sounds like 500 mph on the keyboard and mouse…….
It breaks my brain when he starts typing fast. His experience with a keyboard is like mine with hammering iron in a blacksmith shop: none, its a tech out of time.
Lol! Only Star Trek movie I saw. AND I LOVED IT! Favorite movie scene in the history of movies. Thumbs up if you agree! 😀
Like our grandparents see the ones now, probably
We can talk to our computers even now, albeit primitive way. The computers of just 30 years ago feels incredibly primitive to us, how can we imagine how the people 300 years in the future sees them?
Hello computer… 10-4
We're getting closer to this all the time.
The search for Whales
I never even dreamed, while watching this movie in 1986…
Damn, OP sure got me good
If i knew that i would live long enough to see the day when i speak sms messages into my smartphone- when do we get the warp drive??
I miss James Doohan so much. Simon Pegg will never be the Scotty that James was.
Scotty: Siri, how do I construct transparent aluminum?
Siri: *bling* Here is the chemical formula for Transparent Aluminum, and four accepted manufacturing processes.
Bones looks so cute when offering the mouse to Scotty! X3 This scene made me giggle so hard, I love this scene soo much! This whole movie is win.
I came here from reddit 🙂
I wanted to respond to this but my computer won't do what I tell it, stupid fucking thing.
If this was filmed today, Siri would answer with her lovely voice.
working in tech support I swear most people I speak to on the phone try to operate their computer in this manner.
How quaint!
This is my favourite episode by far. So brilliant!
I love McCoys look at the end " dude no way"
Whilst this is a fair point, there is no way of telling from appearances that this computer isn't voice activated (as opposed to your steam train analogy) and I think, as darkjediMIK says, he is an engineer not a historian. The best analogy I cant think of is that if I were to go back in time 20 years and sit in front of my dad's old 286 and the screen was blank I might wiggle the mouse or tap the keyboard to wake it up. Believe me, that computer didn't have a sleep mode.
The keyboard, how quaint. TOOOOO FREAKIN' FUNNY
star trek 2 4 and 6 and the new one … thats sf at its best
This is me everyday I walk into the office and sit at my computer.
people back then: hahahaha talking to your computer. if only that were possible, maybe when pigs fly.
30 years later: oh wow…
0:11 Scotty's middle finger is missing
