  4. While this documentary is interesting, I can tell you as a Dominican man (Cuban on my maternal side) half of this is false. Dominican people do not deny being black or their African heritage. From the way we speak Spanish, the food we eat, the music, the dancing, etc all has African roots. None of us deny that. The thing many Americans can't handle especially the African Americans is that in the Caribbean we don't subdivide ourselves. There is no well this is the white side part of Santo Domingo and that's the black part over there. Americans do that. On the island we are all Dominican. We embrace being Dominican. You will see white, mulatto, indie, black Dominicana all hanging out. From my personal experience, what a lot of Dominicans do not like is being lumped in with African American people because we look the same. We may look the same but the differences are vast. I dislike when a black person says you're just a black guy who speaks Spanish. That's infuriating. There is so much more to me and other Dominicans than that. That is a slap to our face and my ancestors. Lastly in my personal experience Dominicans don't want to be lumped with the same stereotypes as African Americans because they are false for us and them. Dominicans and African Americans are very different. Night and Day.

  5. You should do a similar documentary in Chile…where since just 10 years ago the black inmigrants from central america has arrived. Sad to said this but you'll be shock to feel the level of racisms. Actually many light skin or white people in chile feels themselves unique or superiors to the rest of the chilean and they looks down to their own ethnic groups. I will said many of them they look same as the ethnics but with spanish surname so they feels like are the best or special I'm sure some new generation has changed in the last 2 decades but you'll be very surprise how wrongly people behave in terms of skin colour in Chile

  7. Sometimes I am ashamed to be a Dominican because my people just won’t stop being in denial. Yeah ik we are mixed country but damn embrace the African in you. Why would anyone associate with their European side? The white man is the devil. I am a mixed Dominican but I am black idc what anyone says!

Black people are the only people on earth, since the dawn of time, who have felt the need, because of their non-existent history of accomplishment, who have resorted to stealing the racial identities of ancient people so as to try to make it seem that they actually accomplished something.   11. I enjoy these documentaries, but this one was very one-sided. He seems to favor the all-Black Haitians over the melting pot of Dominicans. He even neglects to mention all the injustices the Haitians committed against the Dominicans. Disappointing.
